30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 6

Day 6: a picture that makes you laugh

Two summers ago, a 5 year old drew this picture of me. I have a purple body, brown hair, three fingers on each hand, and yellow freckles.

Too great.

:)

Goodbye January!

I am not sad to see January go! I couldn't be happier to move into February. With everything that happened this month with my car, I'm hoping February is a luckier month for me; Lord knows I need some good luck in my life right now.

2011...not so great!

I am so over January! What a terrible way to start the new year! I hope February comes with good luck and better days. I can only hope...

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 4

Day 4: a picture of something you'd like to do again

I'd like to go to another Yankees vs. Orioles game. I usually go to one every year, however, since my dad got a new job, he doesn't get free baseball tickets anymore.

I'll have to see if I can make my way to Camden Yards during the 2011 season somehow.

Words I still have trouble spelling.

Do you ever have those words you just can't spell even though you try and try to spell it correctly? Or it takes you a few tries to get it right?

Well, I have a few:

  • separate
  • rhythm
  • curriculum
  • difficulty
  • sophomore
  • cafeteria

Out of those 6, I spelled 3 incorrectly as I typed them.

I had to really think for the other 3.

And there I prove my point.

Question of the Day - #11

#11 - What was your favorite subject in school? Why?

In the earlier grades, I loved gym class. I was always a tomboy (still am) when I was younger so since I played softball, soccer, and basketball, I always loved gym. When I got to high school and you had to run the mile, I didn't like gym as much. Freshman year, I had gym first period so after running the mile (or other gym games), I had to go to all of other classes after sweating, which I did not like. Sophomore year (my last year of gym), I had gym last period, which was great because I could get ready for soccer and softball right after gym and not really worry about sweating.

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 3

Day 3: a picture of the cast from your favorite show

I have two favorite shows right now: Hawaii Five-0 and Psych.

30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 2

Day 2: a picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest

This a picture of me with my twin sister Kayla (I'm the cute one on the left!). I have definitely been the closest to her the longest because we've been together since the womb! haha But in all seriousness, we share a lot with each other and every time we moved, I always had someone my age who I knew and could play with; that was such a great feeling since we moved a lot.

Oh deer.

I hit a deer with my car yesterday, and it was sooooo scary! I hope that never happens again. I have a fear of getting in a car accident so of course I was freaking out after, and I may or may not have had a little meltdown when I got home. May or may not have.

Why are there even deer on this planet? What purpose do they serve? We hunt them anyway!

Ugh, stupid deer!!!!

Wii thats fun!

I bought a Wii yesterday! Honestly, I'm surprised I didn't buy one sooner; I love the newest technology! Anyways, I'm deciding if a Wii will be a good thing or a bad thing. I think both? It will be a good thing because maybe I'll be so engrossed when playing that I will forget to eat, therefore, lose some weight! Haha! It may be a bad thing because I might be too "busy" to do anything else with my life. I hope that second one doesn't happen though. Anyways, I'm glad I finally bought one; it was about time!

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Oh ice...you sly dog.

Here we go again, another cancellation for the books. Schools are closed today, however, there's a Code Blue, which means I still have to work at some point. The Y opens when employees report, which is 11, so I'll have a shorter shift, which I love more than an ice cream sundae.

I volunteered to help out at camp tryouts today so maybe that will get cancelled too? That would be splendid because if they were still happening, I would have to be there at 12 and then go right to work from there. Not cool.

Oh well; we'll see. Either way, it's kind of a win-win. I just hope the roads aren't too bad. I only like ice when it's in my drink and some delicious drink is poured over it.

Pineapple spottings.

In the TV show Psych, they incorporate a pineapple, somehow, every episode. It might be on a shirt, a rug, as a lamp, in a smoothie, or as the regular fruit itself. Well yesterday, after spotting a pineapple myself, I thought it would be fun to keep a running tally of my own pineapple spottings. I don't imagine I'll see a lot of pineapples, but it will be fun trying to find them!

1/16/11
Spotting #1 - a giant pineapple on top of a building (spotted on the way to Virginia)

1/17/11
Spotting #2 - on the cover of my mom's newcomers book

Staying strong.

The storm is coming,
The winds are near.
I’m running for shelter,
With nothing but fear.

My mind is wandering,
My thoughts are bare.
I’m looking for hope,
That will soon be there.

I struggle with faith,
And believing the good,
But I will stay strong,
Because I know I should.

If I can just stand tall,
And do my best.
I know I will succeed,
Above all the rest.

Tough loss.

Well, my first real season of being a football fan comes to an end since the Patriots lost to the Jets tonight.

Thank you Tom Brady for NOT showing up in the playoffs.

Wes Welker, I still love you :)

Question of the Day - #10

#10 - If you were able to retrieve only one item on the way out of your burning home, what would it be? Explain.

Well, here is a list of things that it would not be but came VERY close (in no particular order):
  • my stuffed bunny (irreplaceable)
  • camera
  • purse
  • iPod
Now for the winning item; that would be my laptop. It has a lot of information on it I could never get again. It also contains pictures I've taken so I wouldn't lose those memories. I pretty much live on my computer so if it was destroyed in a fire, I think I would go utterly insane and pretty quickly too.

Waking up.

"All you have to do is wake up and believe you're going to have a great day. And then you will."

Question of the Day - #9

#9 - How would you describe your dream wedding?

I want a small wedding. Ideally, I would want to get married somewhere cool (not hot), like in a cabin in the woods up north; I was thinking in Maine or New Hampshire during the fall. We would get married outside and then have the reception inside the cabin. And of course it would be a perfect fall day with leaves on the ground (not too many) that would make for beautiful pictures, that I would both take myself and be in of course.

I would have a white dress, and my bridesmaid's dresses would either be peach or a light blue. The groomsmen would have the peach or light blue tie to match the bridesmaids. I haven't decided which color because I like both, and who knows, I may try to incorporate them together somehow. We'd only invite close family and close friends; like I said, I want a small wedding.

And that, is my dream wedding. It won't happen that way, but a girl can dream right? ;)

Question of the Day - #8

#8 - When are you totally at peace?

Probably never. I can come close though when I have no work to do, and I'm not stressed about anything. I enjoy the alone time whether I'm watching TV, on the computer, or reading. I think too much about everything so when nothing's on my mine (when is rarely ever), that's when I'm at peace the most.

Weight-train.

I've jumped on the "Losing-Weight Train". I hope I can stay on and not be thrown off.

I have motivation now. :)

As I sing Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday to my favorite twiny!!! and well, myself of course lol

today is our 23rd birthday - boy, we grew up fast! :D

Question of the Day - #7

#7 - If you could send a letter that traveled back through time, what would you write to yourself?

I would probably tell myself to exercise more and eat healthier. Also, I'd say to be a little more outgoing when it comes to getting a job. I wasn't exactly cutthroat in the job search, and even though I have a full-time job now, it's not the ideal one. I probably would have gotten a teaching job if I was a little more outgoing and willing to go to any length to get interviews. Right now, I'm not that kind of person; I'm more timid than outgoing, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but can be sometimes.

"Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark",

As I've said before, I've become obsessed with the TV show Psych. I had read about an episode that looked absolutely amazing on paper, and I had been dying to watch it. The episode is called, you guessed it, "Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark". I actually skipped 3 episodes tonight just so I could watch it, and I have to say, I was not disappointed! That episode is probably my favorite so far. I love the back-track of the story, showing us how Shawn got kidnapped. I loved seeing Henry work with Detective Lassiter, and I also enjoyed a more "serious" Shawn (if there ever was one). I also liked the fact that Lassiter showed how much he cared for Shawn. Yes he's a cop and finding people is his job, but finding Shawn was personal for him, even if they don't always get along.

The episode was just so interesting, and it kept me at the edge of my seat the entire time. I am definitely going to have to watch this episode again!

Good job Psych writers and great acting James Roday! :)

Psych.

I have become abnormally obsessed with this show. I have recently been watching Psych day in and day out. I've checked out the first three seasons from the library (season 4 is currently on hold), and I absolutely love this show. The characters are hilarious, the storylines are interesting and funny, and it keeps you wanting more. It's an easy show to watch, and what I mean by that is that it's a show you can get attached to very quickly, and I don't have to struggle to sit through any episode. I want to have marathons of this show; it's that good!

I think my favorite part of the show is the cast/characters. I love James Roday's portrayal of Shawn Spencer. I can't imagine anyone else in the lead role; he does such a good job! His quick-wicked lines are fantastic, and his relationship with all the other characters on the show is so fun to watch. Another character I'm drawn to is Detective Lassiter (played by Timothy Omundson). Lassiter and Spencer's love/hate relationship is hilarious. He acts like he hates Shawn, but after numerous episodes, you can tell he cares about him and secretly likes him. You can't forget Gus or Juliet either. Gus is Shawn's partner in the Psychic business, and they have the best lines together. Juliet is Lassiter's partner who Shawn has a crush on. She kind of straightens the boys out and keeps the peace, which you definitely need between the guys.

All in all, I think more people need to watch this show. It's currently on USA Network so it's not on a main cable channel like CBS or ABC, but I still think it's worth watching.

And now I will leave you with a few quotes from the show:

Shawn: Dad I'm confused, these are plans for a wet bar.
Henry: Yeah, that's right, for entertaining.
Shawn: Right, but I don't see anywhere in the plans, the portal into 1976.

Chief: We will meet at the Home Depot tomorrow.
Agent Ewing: Let's say 0700 hours.
Shawn: 700 hours is almost 20 days; shouldn't we act sooner?

(after Gus finds out he might have to massage football players)
Gus: Let me be very clear, these hands (holds up his hands) are not touching anyone, I only use these hands to touch myself. (awkward silence) Let me rephrase that…
Shawn: Please stop speaking. And no more fist bumps for the rest of the day.

People can change.

No really, they can. For 22.75 years of my life, I've disliked tuna and football. Well, I had never actually had tuna, but I hate fish so I just assumed (never assume!). Anyways, I tried tuna for the first time about a month ago, and I love it! I just had my first tuna sub (that I bought), and it was delicious!!

Now for football. I've always been a huge baseball fan (go Yankees!), but I never could really get into football, even though everyone in my family (with the exception of Kayla) are die-hard fans. Well, one day it kind of clicked for me, and I was actually wanting to watch a game. Football is interesting and fun to watch, even if I don't understand every rule yet. I've jumped on the Patriots bandwagon that my family drives, and I've even found my favorite player: Wes Welker.

All in all, people can change; I did...well a little bit! ;)

A bright light in my day.

My meeting that was scheduled for 10 this morning has been rescheduled for next Monday. I'm really glad the meeting got changed because having a meeting after 10 days of winter break was not the best idea to begin with.

Now if only a lot of kids are absent this afternoon or if they're well behaved (I'll take either) <--then my day will be GREAT.

PS: I'm going to try and write here more often. I guess you can call that another resolution of mine.

:)

Sunday, January 02, 2011

2011 has arrived.

Oh hello 2011; where did you come from? It only feels like yesterday that it was 2010. Well, actually that was two days ago. I'm welcoming 2011 with open arms. I need something exciting to happen this year. In a romantic sense? Work sense? Friend sense? I'm sensing something.

Well, here we go again...my 2011 resolutions:

1. Meet a [great] guy. That would be fabulous, however, that could take a while. I don't exactly know a lot of guys to begin with (dang college major of mine), and I'm not the go-out-and-meet-guys type either. That "resolution" could prove to be difficult to master. Maybe he'll just land on my doorstep like a lost puppy?
2. Lose some weight. Oh yes, the typical resolution is back! It never gets old resurrecting that wish for the new year.
3. Get a teaching job. I have a full-time job currently (still working with kids), but it's not what I want to do for the rest of my life. I wouldn't mind having another go at it next year, however, that would mean I didn't get a teaching job [again]. Hmm, tough to call. The working world is a tough world to live in.
4. Get my ears pierced. Yep, I'm 22 (almost 23 - next week!), and I still don't have my ears pierced. It was a goal of mine to get them pierced in 2010, and well, it never happened. I guess I should also whip open a can of "motivation" while I'm at it.
5. Learn how to play chess. That was one of my New Year's resolution from last year, but like getting my ears pierced, it did not happen. Let's try again this year.
6. Write in my blog more. There, I said it.

And there you have it folks. I'm sure I'll want to do a lot more stuff in 2011, but frankly, I'm tired, and I can't think of anymore "resolutions" at the moment.

I'll just have to wait and see what the year 2011 brings me.

Question of the Day - #6

#6 - You discover your wonderful one-year-old child is, because of a mix-up at the hospital, not yours. Would you want to exchange the child to try to correct the mistake?

First, I would sue the hosptial. How could they mix-up my kid? And yes, I would want to exchange babies. I wouldn't feel right keeping a baby a know wasn't mine; I would want my own baby. It would be tough dealing with everything, but if I kept my "wonderful one-year-old" who wasn't mine, I would feel guilty, and I would know it's the wrong thing deep down.
